BIOGRAPHY

The life, educational background, and works of Rocco Lancia

He was bornin Rome on July 15, 1970; at a very young age he moved to Paris with his family. Living in one of the world’s art capitals cannot fail to influence a personality as sensitive as it is attentive to artistic disciplines.

Moving back to Italy, he will put art at the center of his studies, first attending Frosinone’s Liceo Artistico “Anton Giulio Bragaglia,” where he delves into themes related to Surrealism and Pop Art. He continued his education by enrolling in the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in Via Ripetta, graduating in scenography in 1996.

He works alongside the well-known set designer Dante Ferretti at the Cinecittà film studios in Rome. Won first prize for the poster of the International Folklore Festival in Alatri (Fr) in 1999.

In 2000 he again felt the need to return to his native Paris working as assistant set designer for the Arab World Institute and the Bibliothèque National “François Mitterand.”

Since 2002, he has been living permanently in Italy, where he has been uninterruptedly devoted to his painting activities; he organizes systematic solo painting exhibitions, follows extemporaneous exhibitions and cultural events, and also coordinates young artists through the Artqube Association of which he is the founder. A great passion recognizable in a natural talent that the artist has perfected through extensive research and experimentation in painting.

In 2013, Rocco Fluo was born, a recognizable style of his works made with fluorescent colors.

In 2017 he began the Gold &Black collection, with predominantly gold and black colors made on bags of coffee, the drink of Naples.

In 2021 on the occasion of the Covid 19 period he produced the Covidland exhibition in Rome.

In 2022, he needs to find a style that is close to the world of the street: Rocco Art, the exhibition created in Arpino has a scratchy style, where writing, tags, abstract and figurative art add up to give an urban look to his painting.
